The Salters' Company, one of the great 12 Livery Companies of London, currently support two students at Christ's Hospital.  A Deputy Grecian (year 12) and a Grecian (year 13). The two students are top chemistry students at Christ's Hospital and their studies are supported by The Salters'. Chemistry is a very popular subject at Christ's Hospital and many students go on to pursue science-based courses at university.

Recently the presentees attended the Salters' Foundation in Focus event where they met Piers Vacher, Master of The Salter's Company 2024/25.

We are very proud to be supported by this prestigious livery company, which former Christ's Hospital Head Teacher John Franklin is a member of and a past master.

The Salters' are important historic donors to Christ's Hospital. The Salters’ School of Chemistry was opened on November 15 1993 by The Master of the Salters' Livery Company, Lord Porter, in the presence of The President, HRH The Duke of Gloucester. Lord Porter was a Past President of The Royal Society and Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry.

The Salters generously gave £175,000 to Christ’s Hospital to refurbish the five chemistry laboratories to mark the 600th anniversary of the Livery company. This was one of the first initiatives of the Christ’s Hospital Partnership. The renovation of the four laboratories on the top floor of the Old Science School began in the Easter holidays and was completed in time for the summer term. Work on the fifth laboratory in the New Science School was undertaken the following summer.
