Recent legislative changes mean that the school is no longer eligible for Business Rates charitable relief and must also absorb higher employer National Insurance contributions. Together, these changes increased the school’s annual costs by £1 million – the equivalent of funding 21 full bursary places. These bursaries are often the doorway through which remarkable journeys begin.

One such journey is Leotie’s. Growing up in Broadstairs, she first encountered CH when the school visited her primary as part of its outreach work. “I was part of the first cohort to be introduced – and that visit changed everything,” she recalls.

Since joining CH, Leotie has embraced every opportunity: breaking school steeplechase records, becoming Swimming Captain, developing leadership in the CCF, and serving as a confident School Monitor and role model. Reflecting on her time here, she says, “Your support has given me opportunities I would never have heard of back in my small hometown.”

Leotie’s experience is just one example of what a CH bursary makes possible, and a reminder of what is at risk if these 21 places cannot be protected. We’re therefore asking for your support because you know better than anyone the value of a CH education.

There are more young people full of potential, simply waiting for someone to open the door. Your support – whether a one‑off gift or a regular donation – helps ensure that future generations can benefit from the same transformative education.
