While the school has long offered both boarding and day places, extending its renowned means-tested support to include day students ensures that more young people can access a transformative CH education, regardless of their circumstances.

CH Standing Firm on Opportunity

Across the UK, independent schools are offering fewer means-tested bursaries. According to the Independent Schools Council Annual Census 2025, bursary places have fallen by 4% in the past year (1,629 places) and by 13% since 2021.

Bursaries at Christ’s Hospital ensure more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds can thrive. They can open doors for children who have faced many challenges in their lives, and it can be a real turning point. Access to a first-class education, the individual attention, stable boarding environment, pastoral care and the feeling of belonging to a stable community at CH, can be invaluable for children to flourish and reach their potential.

We continue to do so through the outstanding generosity of the many individuals, groups, Foundations and Livery Companies who share our vision of enabling children from all corners of society to be educated at our school.

Giving Day raised an outstanding £178,000 from 702 donors! Together, we’ve demonstrated the true power of our community in creating transformative opportunities for our students.
Our Impact

Christ’s Hospital is the UK’s leading charitable school and the country’s most generous bursary charity. The school was established in 1552 and provides free or substantially reduced cost places to over 650 students each year – more than any other organisation in the UK.
