Nurturing Talent, Transforming Futures: Maths Camps at Christ’s Hospital In August, Christ’s Hospital hosted two consecutive 2.5-day residential Maths Camps, welcoming around 90 students to each. Top-attaining students from across the country, all sharing a passion for maths, took part. The first camp brought together Year 9 students, followed by a second for Years 7 and 8. The camp is delivered by Purposeful Ventures, Future Foundations and Axiom Maths, aimed to nurture young mathematical talent – particularly among young people from disadvantaged backgrounds – inspire a love of the subject, and open doors to transformative boarding opportunities at Christ's Hospital. The exciting programme featured intensive problem-solving, teamwork, and mathematical exploration with inspiring speakers, and opportunities to meet brilliant mathematicians while making new friends. Participants also gained insights into Christ’s Hospital’s Royal Mathematical School, its rich heritage, and its ongoing role in advancing maths education. We were delighted to welcome back four recent leavers from CH – Tai’bat, Lochlann, Emily, and Alexandra – who returned as Ambassadors, offering guidance, encouragement, and a first-hand perspective on CH life. This partnership has been a fantastic start, and we look forward to supporting a UK-wide roll-out of Maths Camps, with the long-term goal of reaching more young mathematicians nationwide.
