News CH Standing Firm on Opportunity Across the UK, independent schools are offering fewer means-tested bursaries. According to the Independent Schools Council Annual Census 2025, bursary places have fallen by 4% in the past year (1,629 places) and by 13% since 2021. At Christ’s Hospital, our commitment to access has never wavered. This year, we continue to provide more than 660 bursary places, ensuring that young people from all backgrounds can benefit from a Christ's Hospital education that is transformative. However, recent UK legislative changes including loss of Business Rates charitable relief and increased employer national insurance, have increased our annual costs by £1 million, placing at risk the funding of 21 full bursary places. Without additional support, we risk closing the door to 21 talented children from disadvantaged backgrounds – the very students who need CH the most. Our 21 Futures bursary campaign is a call to protect these opportunities. Each gift, no matter the size, helps to secure a place for a child whose potential should never be defined by their family’s financial circumstances. Together, we can ensure that Christ’s Hospital continues to stand apart: unwavering in our mission, and open to every young person with the ability and ambition to thrive. Donate today
