This week we welcomed The Worshipful Company of Grocers one of the City of London’s livery companies, to Christ's Hospital.

The Worshipful Company of Grocers have been associated with Christ's Hospital since 1553. Links were strengthened in the 17th century when Sir John Fredrick (Lord Mayor 1662/63, MP for the City of London in 1663, CH President 1662-83 -3) and Sir John Moore (Lord Mayor in 1681/82, MP for the City of London in 1685 and President of CH 1686-1702) were each President of Christ's Hospital and Master of the Grocers.

An enduring link was created in 1846 when the Grocers’ Company gave £10,000 to CH for the right to present six children in perpetuity. The company currently have three students on historic donation governorships at Christ's Hospital whom they met with during their visit.
