Last Wednesday, Carpenters' Hall provided the stunning backdrop for this year’s Scholars’ Lunch, a celebration of the schools and students supported by The Worshipful Company of Carpenters'. This annual event highlights the ongoing commitment of The Carpenters' Company, who have been generously supporting Christ's Hospital for over 70 years.

In attendance were the current Christ's Hospital Carpenter's presentees — Emily, Dylan and Betsy — who represented the school with pride. The lunch was hosted by Old Blue James Preston (BaA, ColA 73-79), who serves as the Donation Governor to our presentees and is the current Warden of the Worshipful Company of Carpenters, as well as Sir Loyd Grossman, the current Master of the Carpenters' and a familiar face from television and his popular line of sauces.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the lasting partnership between The Carpenters’ Company and Christ's Hospital, and to express gratitude for their unwavering support.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Carpenters' for their generosity and look forward to the positive impact this partnership will bring in the years to come.

About The Carpenter's Company

'The Carpenters’ Company is a City of London Livery Company. It received its first royal charter in 1477, and was granted a coat of arms in 1466.

The Company was orginally established as a medieval trade guild to safeguard the welfare and interests of carpenters in the City of London. Today, charitable activities and support for the craft of woodworking through scholarships, competitions and the Building Crafts College are the two cornerstones of its work.

The Carpenters’ Company is the senior construction trade company amongst the City Livery Companies, and maintains close links with the carpentry profession and other building trades.'
